About Fieldnotes
Fieldnotes started as a personal record of what I wish someone had told me when I first moved to the UK for work: how pay conversations actually work here, why so many newcomers under-negotiate without realising it, and what changed once I started doing things differently.
It isn't a career coaching business, a recruitment agency, or a financial advice service. It's a personal account, published as an advertorial — meaning some of the content includes paid recommendations for products I've used myself, most notably an online negotiation course. Where that happens, it's clearly disclosed, both at the top of the page and next to the relevant link.
I write for one specific reader: someone who has recently moved to the UK for work, still feels a little unsure about the local norms around pay, and would rather learn from someone else's experience than repeat the same mistakes from scratch.

How this site makes money
This site takes part in an affiliate programme. When a reader follows a recommendation and signs up for a course, we may receive a commission from the provider, at no extra cost to the reader. This does not affect the editorial content — we only recommend things that were genuinely useful in the story being told. See our Privacy Policy for more detail on how this works.
